JON HARDING — ACII FCILA CIP FUEDI-ELAE, Principal

For the past several decades, Jon has lived and worked all over the world — handling multi-million dollar claims on five continents. His wealth of experience as a skilled adjuster and negotiator in the Renewable and Conventional Energy Sectors can help navigate the intricacies of the most complex losses. His accumulated knowledge enables him to interpret the circumstances of any loss as it relates to policy coverage and contract conditions and to manage any business interruption and the process of reinstatement.

Jon’s ability to grasp and distill complex issues and negotiate across multi-national situations in the field or in the boardroom has made him a trusted resource for a wide variety of clients.

Where the investigation demands it, Jon’s a hands-on adjuster with a spectrum of GWO certifications, including offshore wind climb & safety to enable wind turbine access to investigate and report from first-hand knowledge.

DAVID NILLES — General Adjuster

With over 27 years of experience in the insurance field, David has been pioneering the field of renewable energy adjusting since 2008. From ethanol to bio-fuels to wind, solar and hydro. When it comes to types of claims, he’s pretty much handled them all. Whether they involve mechanical problems, natural disasters or civil issues, clients trust him to get their operations back up and running as soon as possible. His extensive expertise is also called upon to help clients recognize potential risks to proactively avoid expensive claims in the first place.

“I love the challenge of learning and growth in my profession and the energy claim adjustment business has given me that opportunity,” says David, who frequently travels to sites to get first-hand knowledge of all issues. That insight and his ability to communicate between a variety of industries and cultures are some of the reasons, companies trust him to find the best solutions.

JUSTIN ROBINETT — Loss Adjuster

Justin Robinett has over eight years of technical experience in the wind energy sector. Justin started his insurance career at RELA where for five years he provided specialist loss adjusting, claims handling and surveying services within the USA and other territories. Justin is able to draw from his wealth of on-site practical experience of repairs and maintenance acquired when working for Siemens Energy Inc and Broadwind Energy Services as a composite specialist and gearbox technician. As a qualified and licensed loss adjuster, Justin is able to use his first-hand experience of wind farm practices and standards to have a firm grasp of the issues surrounding wind turbine generator claims, which is invaluable when handling complex claims. 

 
 
 

STEVE HODGE — Licensed Adjuster

Steve began his career as a loss adjuster in London in 1981, after working as a broker for 3 years. In 1984, he achieved associate status with CILA, and at that time, he was the youngest adjuster to qualify.

After gaining all round experience with a major adjusting practice, Steve migrated to Australia in 1988, continuing as a general adjuster, with a leaning towards contract works (builder’s risks) claims.

In 1997, Steve joined Crawford and became one of four global account managers, specializing in the servicing of property claims by multinational companies and corporations. Simultaneously, he developed a profile with State and Federal government agencies, including the Australian Antarctic Division, and became involved in significant claims under their self-insurance programs.

During 2004, Steve became the founding director Technical Assessing, Victoria. The company developed an expertise in construction and complex claims and handled major losses under public/private insurance programs incorporating significant infrastructure projects including desalination plants, roads, bridges, and tunnels. Steve was the preferred adjuster under state government schemes to build new hospitals and level crossing removals.

In 2018, he moved to New York City, working for Lloyd Warwick International, handling energy and power generation incidents across the USA for the American and London markets. During this time, he developed a particular interest in the renewables industry.

Now in 2023, Steve has returned to Australia and is living in a small coastal community along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. He plans to pursue his love of surfing and open a café with his wife, while also consulting to the loss adjusting and insurance industry.

 
 
 

STEVE CLIFF — Director

Steve has 35 years of extensive worldwide loss adjusting experience in Europe, Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, South-East Asia, and New Zealand, handling a wide variety of major and complex losses for various international Insurers and Reinsurers. These include the Renewable and Conventional Energy sectors involving PV, Wind, Hydro-electric, and Geothermal, as well as losses covering Commercial and Industrial Property, CAR, Political Violence, and Telecommunications.

For the past 28 years Steve has also been heavily involved in the management and handling of numerous large multi-million dollar losses arising from major international catastrophic events in the Caribbean, New Zealand, South America and Europe.  He has also undertaken claims review and audit work for international Reinsurers, as well as providing litigation support and undertaking Risk Surveys.

Steve’s in-depth understanding of international policy and contract wordings, including his negotiating skillset, ensures a mutually acceptable outcome to the most complex of claims.

 
 
 

RICHARD SMITH — Loss Adjuster

Richard has over thirty-five years of worldwide engineering experience, covering a variety of sectors, from dams and barrages to roads and bridges. Richard has worked extensively in Africa, the Caribbean and Central America as well as Europe and North America. In his roles as Engineer on numerous infrastructure development and maintenance projects Richard is experienced in contractual claims analysis and adjudication.

Richard started his career with ASI in 2024 where he provides specialist loss adjusting, claims handling and engineering services. As a fully licensed Independent Adjuster with GWO certification including offshore, Richard is able to use his experience of engineering contract management and claim adjudication to have a firm grasp of the technical and contractual issues involved with complex insurance claims.
